Alonzo Ferdinand Ickis (1836-1917) was a Union County, Iowa farmer in Colo. during the 1859 gold rush. He quit prospecting to join Colorado Volunteers in 1861 and fought in the Battle of Valverde, N.M. (1862). Mustered out of service and returned to Iowa (1864). In 1899, family moved first to Wray and later Denver, Colo.
