African American jazz pianist. Born Thelma Louise Daniels, June 7, 1914 in Iola, Kansas. Played for Duke Ellington in the 1940s. Played at various venues throughout the United States. Denver Black Arts Festival established the Louise Duncan Lifetime Achievement Awards for Excellence in the Arts. Duncan received the first lifetime achievement award in 1988.
