Heye Heinrich "Harry" Temmen was born on March 6, 1856 in Baltimore, Md. He came to Denver, Colo. in 1880 and tended bar at the Windsor Hotel before opening Tammen and Co. Curiosities. In 1895, he formed a partnership with Frederick G. Bonfils and purchased the Evening Post newspaper, later changing the name to the Denver Post. Tammen was married to Agnes Reid in 1892. He died in Denver, Colo. on July 24, 1924.
