B. Dec. 31, 1885, Pueblo, Colo. Graduated from East High School (Denver) and Cornell University. Opened investment business, Newton and Co. in 1909. Was assistant executive secretary of the Federal Reserve Board during WW I. After war, formed his own company which later merged with Boettcher and Company. Served on State Relief Committee, Public Housing Authority and the Colorado Defense Council. Belonged to many organizations and clubs. Son, James Quigg Newton, Jr. served as Mayor of Denver, 1947-1955. D. March 1944, Denver, Colo.
