George E. Lewis (1893-1952) worked as a journalist for Denver newspapers, including the Rocky Mountain News and the Denver Times. He was also president of the Denver Press Club. Beginning in 1945, he worked for the Colorado Public Service Company and became a manager in the Advertising Department. Lewis served as editor of the company magazine, Lines.
Orian "Sally Lewis (1926-1998) was daughter of George E. Lewis and Pauline S. Mogbier. She worked at the Museum of New Mexico's Laboratory of Anthropology, the Denver Art Museum, and was Curator of Collections for the Historical Society of Colorado. In 1966, Sally married Hugo G. Rodeck, the director of the University of Colorado Museum of Natural History and Anthropology. Sally wrote a manuscript about her maternal great-grandfather, Abram Lyons, and his Civil War naval service, using as evidence his letters home to his "Dear Sister."
Abram E. Lyons (1836-1910, also listed as "AER Lyons" in some sources) was born in Virginia but later moved to New York. In 1861, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and served until 1864. In 1867, he married Hannah Hewitt and together they worked in hotels. He died and was buried in Denver, Colorado.
