Jack Carter Bradley was born to Earl Russell and Eva Melissa Carter Bradley in Moline, Ill. on March 14, 1919. He was a violinist, conductor, longtime chair of the Texas Southern University Music Department and the first Afican American musician to perform with the Denver Symphony Orchestra (1946-1949). Graduated from Manual High School (1937) and the University of Denver (BA, 1941; MA-Music, 1949). He died in Houston, Tex. on February 29, 2000. Through his mother, Bradley was the great-nephew of noted Denver based female physician, Dr. Justina Ford (1871-1952).
