Bio/Organization Note:	John L. Stearns and wife, Ella Powell, moved to Denver, Colo. from Virginia in 1892. He was president of the German-American Life Insurance Company. Children included John, Cuthbert S., Robert, Harriet, Mary and Rosalie. Robert was President of the University of Colorado (1939-1943), head of the Boettcher Foundation. Married Amy Pitkin, granddaughter of Frederick Walker Pitkin, second governor of Colorado.
Summary:	Correspondence, photographs of Stearns and Pitkin families, newspaper clippings, reprint of address delivered by Robert Lawrence Stearns at the annual meeting of the American Association of Law Libraries in 1935, school records.
