Bio/Organization Note:	Alonzo Ferdinand Ickis (1836-1917) was a Union County, Iowa farmer in Colo. during the 1859 gold rush. He quit prospecting to join Colorado Volunteers in 1861 and fought in the Battle of Valverde, N.M. (1862). Mustered out of service and returned to Iowa (1864). In 1899, family moved first to Wray and later Denver, Colo.
Summary:	Collection contains a diary documenting Ickis' experiences with the Colorado Volunteers during the Civil War, serving in Colo. and N.M. Also some Ickis family data. Collection also available on microfilm (C MSS Mflm215).
