Sarah "Sandy" Anderson was born on August 20, 1923 in Tilden, Neb. Lived in Lead, S.D. before before enrolling in nursing school at Denver General Hospital. Graduated nursing school (1944), commissioned a secong lieutenant (1945) in the Army Nurses Corps after training at Oak Knoll Naval Hospital, Oakland, Calif. Married Lt. Keith A McNurlen (1919-1973), later married William "Bill" Mapel. Died in Boulder, Colo. on November 26, 2010.

Collection contains three nursing school yearbooks (1942-1944) and a scrapbook (1944-1945) made from a Brown Palace Hotel telephone directory. The materials in the collection document Sarah Anderson's time as a nursing student at Denver General Hospital; including ephemera and materials related to her activities as a nurse with the Army Nurse Corps.
