Summary:
Tells the story of Milford Beeghly, an Iowa corn farmer, who had a passion for developing hybrid corn. Using farm scenes, stop-motion animation, and time-lapse photography, this film shows his early work during much of the 1930s. Includes his appearance in early television commercials and Mr. Beeghly discussing his near-obsessive attempts to develop a perfect strain of corn. Contains interviews with his children who reminisce about him and their relationship. Also includes footage from his remarriage after being widowed and his 98th birthday celebration. In 1974, Mr. Beeghly closed his seed business but continued to experiment with different varieties on his own until he was 99. He passed away January 14, 2001 at the age of 102.
